So, what’s this all about?
Starting Tuesday, I’ll fulfill one half of a long hedged dream - driving Route 66 from California to Chicago. Well, not quite. The one-half is that I’ll be doing it in a car instead of my bike, and the other thing is, I’ll be doing it only to Texas.
From San Bernadino, I’ll drive to Las Vegas, into New Mexico along I-40 and the old Route 66, stopping at old restaurants, some still open, others who died with the route. I’ll visit Dot’s museum, the cowboy graveyard, have dinner with (actually, it’s ‘cook dinner for’) a local Hells Angels chapter, meet friends in Las Vegas, stop by the old Outlaw Hideout in the Mojave desert, and more.
