Speaker: “A few centuries ago, the Germanic world knew of a people called the “Bergschelme”. Weird people with little social skills, wearing scrap clothing they could scrounge together from trash, living removed from society. They’d usually stick to themselves, only to come into town during faires and markets to sing badly, juggle badly, and hurt themselves and each other...

Music to grow up to
I just found an old mix tape of mine. Ca. 1985 or so, it must have followed me in one of the paperwork boxes I keep dragging around with me and have been spilled during the last move. Here’s what was on it. Took me a while to find a tape deck to check it, but neighbor Dave had one (he also has a 1969 Fender Rosewood Telecaster and a ‘76 Bryan 6-string bass, I am jealous). Consider it...

What I love here is the built-in sense of people, cross-pollination, and enjoyment.  It’s made me write again. Which is pretty much why I moved to 106 miles.

Despite the 1990s looking website (and I don’t mean this in a “clean and compatible” kind of way), this app keeps saving my behind on an almost daily basis, now. There’s a Mac version of the USB drivers in the making, which I can’t wait to have, until then Bluetooth modem seems to work.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot, lately. The amount of compromised Twitter spam comes from one camp in particular - the “social media experts”. In other words, what a twelve year old WoW kiddie understands - not to click on links of unknown provenance and always use a URL expander - the “experts” don’t. No one would take a city planning consultant seriously...

Dear AT&T, Whatever You’re Doing AT SXSW, Do It In... →
(via laughingsquid) Too late. It’s not just SF and NYC. In fact, I give much less of a flying donkey’s arse about slight issues in cities. The places it counts are those areas where my phone is the only connection I have to the rest of the world. Rest stops in BFE. I-40, somewhere miles away from the next phone. THAT’s where I want my phone to work. AT&T once were those...

Yahoo! to YeeHaw!
So, what’s this all about? Starting Tuesday, I’ll fulfill one half of a long hedged dream - driving Route 66 from California to Chicago. Well, not quite. The one-half is that I’ll be doing it in a car instead of my bike, and the other thing is, I’ll be doing it only to Texas. From San Bernadino, I’ll drive to Las Vegas, into New Mexico along I-40 and the old Route...
